Prediction about social networks

I tripped over an interesting piece of information last night.
The story starts with Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, president of the French Republic from 1974 to 1981. The focus of the Giscard presidency was to modernize the country. The high-speed TGV train was one of the projects launched under his leadership.
Giscard commissioned a report by Simon Nora and Alain Minc about computerization. The finale version, L'Informatisation de la société, defined new policy to restructure society around a concept they called télématique, a synthesis of telecommunication and computing.
This synthesis would bring new information technologies, changing the way we process, distribute and manage information, thereby radically altering our system of social organization.
The report was published in 1978, 14 years before the Web, 26 years before Facebook and 28 BT (before Twitter).
